Groundwater
Ground water is located below the ground. Ground water is part of hydrologic cycle, containing 21 percent of Earth’s freshwater. Groundwater comprises of 97 percent of fresh water not included as ice and snow in ice sheet, glaciers and snowfields. This water is greatly exceeds the amount of water in streams, rivers and lakes.
Groundwater is important in supplying water to water irrigation, industry and drink water. In someplace this ground water source become critical source because the circulation is imbalance, outstream much bigger than instream requiremants, this condition need ecosystem rebuild
Environment protection need more strict because the condition right now is very crucial, less water supply to ground from nature make this ground water become damage and contaminated by waste from industry. In particular, ground water user need to know on what, how and why the nature protection needs to keep the availability of this ground water.
Ground Water Source
Ground water is located below the Earth’s surface at the depth where all the pore (open) spaces in the soil, sediment, or rock are completely filled with water. Groundwater is part of the hydrologic cycle, originating when part of the precipitation that falls on the Earth’s surface sinks (infiltrates) through the soil and percolate (seeps) downward to become groundwater. Groundwater will eventually come back to the surface, discharging to streams, springs, lakes, or the oceans, to complete the hydrologic cycle.
